MP Ensystems worked on an Agriculture DSM project, to attempt to solve agriculture electricity sector problems while tackling related issues of water consumption, crop selection and farm income. The project focused on developing solutions to rationalize electricity consumption in agriculture.

MP Ensystems worked with the governments of Punjab and Haryana on a project titled “Promoting Energy Efficient and Clean Cold Chain in India”. As a part of this project, we developed a roadmap for clean cold chain development in India, conducted a baseline assessment of Indian cold chain in terms of energy and refrigerant usage and outlined implementation opportunities and financing aspects.

We conducted a rapid assessment of the vaccine cold chain. Activities included background research on qualification requirements from UNICEF, WHO and MOHFW, documenting technological advancements in the vaccine cold chain and creating a comprehensive list of cold-chain stakeholders in India that are capable of contributing to the vaccines supply-chain. In partnership with Centre for Environment Education (CEE), we worked on developing designs of region-specific Community Cooling Hubs (CCHs) based on local needs for cooling and resources available. A detailed analysis was planned to understand the cooling needs. The study was designed to gather empirical data for proposed business models in 3 communities in Maharashtra

In 2021, a combination of factors including Covid-19-induced lockdowns and climate-induced disasters resulted in large scale disruptions in agriculture value chains. This video contains a documentation of our field activities in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. In addition to mapping detailed value chains for mango, jackfruit and fisheries, we developed a package of technological interventions suitable to FPOs in the region and proposed innovative financing solutions, based on our research as well as interactions with CSR funds, banks, and social impact investors.

In 2022, we undertook a project focusing on decarbonisation opportunities in agriculture and horticulture in coal-rich districts of Madhya Pradesh. We conducted in-depth assessment of district and state GDP dependencies, while creating standardised packages of interventions, including solarisation of pumping, agrivoltaics, hybrid cold-chains, improvements in logistics and electrified transport for potato and turmeric value chains. The team developed training modules on Agrivoltaics to promote entrepreneurship and skill development.

Currently in 2023, The MP Ensystems is focused on greening rural value chains in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. We are assessing the potential for low carbon development in four aspirational districts and are working to develop intervention packages. Our efforts are driven by multi-stakeholder partnerships in Madhya Pradesh and we aim to pioneer new approaches in Maharashtra. Through value chain mapping, we are analyzing specific crops and their outputs in each district, gathering insights from field visits, and identifying the potential benefits for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). Our stakeholder engagement involves collaborating with government agencies, farmer and food processor associations, technology providers, and financing institutions in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. We will provide recommendations based on projections of the interventions' impact on renewable energy deployment, employment generation, and gross value added. To achieve these outcomes, we will outline a roadmap of necessary investments.
